Your La Habra High School Football Booster Club
What is it? The Club is a Non-Profit Organization; created to support the school’s Football program
at all levels, with both financial and emotional support. The Club is recognized by La Habra High
School, has a comprehensive budget and set of by-laws.
Who is it? The Club is comprised of volunteers, mostly the parents and other relatives of the
players, but all are welcome. The officers of the Club are generally JV and Varsity parents. This in
no way should inhibit any freshman parents that want to serve from doing so.
What does it do? Under the leadership of the Executive Board, the Club meets, plans and conducts
activities that will support the football teams. Major annual activities of the Club include operating the
snack shack during games (gate receipts go to ASB), a Youth Summer Football Camp, selling
Christmas trees during December, sponsoring a golf tournament, and many other fundraising
Doesn’t the school provide everything to operate the program? Unfortunately, no. The District
provides about $3,000.00 for supplies, (replacement helmets and shoulder pads), plus some of the
stipends for the coaches. As with most California school districts, there is not enough funding for
extracurricular activities (or for academics either!). The Booster Club buys uniforms, tape, footballs,
and major equipment items (tackling dummies, weight sets, etc.)
Besides buying football equipment & supplies, what else does the club provide?
Among its many activities, the Club sponsors team meals for the Varsity team each week of the
season, film team breakfasts, and power aide for all teams, parent appreciation night, subsidizes 50%
of the cost of summer training camp, provides funding and volunteers for the various banquets at
season’s end, anonymously covers the financial needs of some players, provides the film crew and
other support staff to set-up the fields and assist the coaches.
When does the Club meet? We meet the first Tuesday of each month, 7:00 PM in the campus
library. During football season, there is a general meeting every Tuesday night before the Friday
night home game same location and time. The meeting is informative and includes the ever-popular
Coach’s Corner with commentary by Coach Mazzotta.
Should I participate? YES! YES! YES! If you have a student in the program, or like to volunteer
where needed, we need you! And, it is very desirable that parents become active in the Club.
Within a few short years, all experienced parents rotate out of the Club. For the Club to survive and
continue to support the program new participants are needed. Although we do have lots of fun
ultimately, we are here for the kids.
